Don’t miss the 2019 Sweet Days, Hot Nights Festival, a family-friendly event including food, music, entertainment and of course the annual Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships. The Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships is a test of skill and endurance, with thousands of dollars in prize money up for grabs for competitors.
On 1 June from 11am – 4pm, spectators will have the opportunity to walk through a paddock of burnt sugarcane and experience the dirty, back-breaking work of a by-gone era. Experience the dirty, back breaking work of a by-gone era and cheer on the men and women as they swing.
Sit back and enjoy live music and good old fashioned whip cracking throw downs. Wander through vintage machinery from yesteryear, buy a cold drink from the bar and enjoy food from a wide array of food stalls.

There is something to do for the whole family with free children’s craft activities, facepainting, animal farm, jumping castle and much much more.

The Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships are held at the Home Hill Showgrounds, about one and a quarter hour’s drive south of Townsville.

Planning is underway for the 2019 event with more details to be finalised shortly. To provide some insight into the Festival view the 2018 Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships.
